Read more… 0 Lyle’s AOPs Posted by Rocambole on Oct 28, 2012 in Misc Lyle has become known in the DAP community for his object-based AOPs and original paintings. This leprechaun painting made of bottle caps is a typical example of his style which has its roots in the early days of DAP. DAP’s predecessor was the Arcimbolder which made paintings using fruits, nuts and vegetables as brush strokes. This again was inspired by the Italian painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo (1527-1593), best known for creating imaginative portrait heads made entirely of such objects as fruits, vegetables, flowers, fish, and books – that is, he painted representations of these objects on the canvas arranged in such a way that the whole collection of objects formed a recognizable likeness of the portrait subject. Read more… 0 Leonid AOP Posted by Rocambole on Oct 18, 2012 in AOP Templates Leonid Afremov (born 12 July 1955 in Vitebsk, Belarus) is a Russian–Israeli modern impressionistic artist who works mainly with a palette knife and oils. He developed his own unique technique and style which is unmistakable. Afremov is mainly known as being a self-representing artist who promotes and sells his work exclusively over the internet with very little exhibitions and involvement of dealers and galleries. Before the advancement of online sales and eBay, Afremov was a struggling artist. He was born in Vitebsk, Belarus, and lived there until 1990. Between 1990 and 2002 he lived in Israel, and from 2002 to 2010 in Boca Raton, Florida. Afremov currently resides in the popular resort town Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico, near Cancun. He paints mainly landscape, city scenes, seascapes, flowers and portraits. Most of his work is considered very colorful and politically neutral. (From Wikipedia.) This AOP is trying to recreate his style, with big palette knife strokes gathered from his own paintings. It has been asked for a few times the last couple of years so I have now taken the liberty of uploading to the café to make it more easy to find. They were originally published in the old and long gone forum and the creator seems to have left us. But I suppose he or she doesn’t mind them being distributed one more time. It was primarily meant for paintings with large, rough strokes but in the end I also made a version with thinner strokes. It now has several palettes and is hopefully also usable for other motives than trees. But sometimes I find out that one certain set of strokes works better with another palette than the one it was meant for. Classics is a collection of four different styles made of previusly unused combinations of colour palettes and brush strokes.
